Boys Hope Girls Hope is an organization dedicated to helping young people in need overcome disadvantages by providing educational, psychological, and financial support throughout their formative years.
This year, at their annual NY Vision of Hope awards, Boys Hope Girls Hope honored Lee Olesky with the titular Vision of Hope award. Also being honored that evening was legendary Yankees pitcher, Mariano Rivera, who received the Ann and Wellington Mara Award.
Tradeweb has a longstanding relationship with Boys Hope Girls Hope. Our President, Billy Hult, serves as a trustee with the organization, and is a previous recipient of the Vision of Hope Award himself.
Children who are served by BHGH have typically experienced an inordinate amount of stress or trauma during their early years due to extreme circumstances such as poverty, the loss of a parent/guardian, violence, underperforming schools, and even displacement due to natural disaster.
The organization prides itself on finding those both with the most need, and those with the most potential. Not only must participants meet academics requirements, but they must also possess the internal drive and motivation it takes to adapt, adjust, and overcome. These students wind up becoming leaders who go on to improve not only themselves, but their surrounding community as well.
Many of the children who graduate from BHGH programs also give back to the organization itself, becoming volunteers or board members, which is a true testament to the life-changing value it delivers for its participants.
