The majority of Tradeweb Equities products are web applications based on client/server architecture that uses industry-standard security mechanisms, protocols, and tools. The client application runs in Internet Explorer browser (6.0 and above) running on the user's desktop. Also, client applications can be a back-end process requesting data in XML format which is delivered over HTTPS/SOAP.
Connectivity
As a standard web application, server side is hosted within Tradeweb infrastructure. Clients make outbound HTTPS (SSL 128 bit encryption) requests to the domain servers over Internet and the server processes the requests and sends back HTTPS response which is displayed in client browser.
Security
For Tradeweb Routing Network (TRN) based products (TCA and TWA), clients must register their IP addresses with Tradeweb's user database for authentication. Also, all web traffic between client and server is 128 bit SSL encrypted.
FIX Connectivity - Tradeweb Routing Network, AutEx trade advertising and IOIs
Tradeweb provides a real-time FIX messaging system for order routing, allocations, and pre- and post-trade information (AutEx). This system's architecture uses a Hub-and-Spoke model which utilizes Java server side technology, J2EE application server, java messaging services and FIX protocol servers which run on Red Hat Linux or Solaris OS.
Clients access this network via standard FIX protocol using OMS vendors or their own proprietary FIX support services. All clients must be registered in the system and their messaging ID must be authenticated as part of their login. FIX sessions may be configured to either be initiated by the client or by the Tradeweb FIX Servers as determined by client preference.
The hub-and-spoke model allows TRN clients to maintain a single FIX connection that facilitates access to any destination on the network subject to prior authorization.
